Did You Know Dogs Can Climb? When Life Reaches Out to Touch You Unexpectedly ...

Did You Know Dogs Can Climb?  When Life Reaches Out to Touch You Unexpectedly ...
By Gloria Faye Brown Bates/aka Granny Gee/@GeeGranny on Twitter

Kissy Fairchild Bates ... Our Rottie

Precious Camo/Camie Leigh Bates ... Our Mixed-Perfectly Australian Shepherd

Do you ever think if you stay at home ... mind your own business, not bother anyone ... that the world will leave you alone?

Even if you never socialize ... close yourself off to the world ... stay private not ever speaking to someone, or go around someone else ... did you know ... the world can touch your life ... reach in, jerk your ass out of your little world ... whether you like it or not?

Seriously ... think about it.  I will give you just a little example of what I mean ... we are private people and we love to be around people ... so, don't think we are so private we don't get around other people.

We like people ... we love to talk ...  just at home it's hard to have company ... our Pups aren't used to visitors ... they will bark, raise Cain if someone comes.  Not exactly a good visiting atmosphere ... it's their home, too.  We have never had many visitors so, it's understandable.  The Pups deter visitors ...

Getting back to what I mean about the ... world reaching out to touch you ... while you are in your own little world, minding your business, not bothering anyone.

We live to ourselves ... our Pups have a small fenced-in yard with a locked gate.  They go in and out through their pet door.  They are clean, and they are house-broken.  They are good Pups ... they never run loose in the neighborhood.

To us it would be like letting little children run all over the place who are innocent to the perils of the world.  They might never-ever make it back home ... wild animals, other dogs, a car could make their little journey out running around ... be the last time we see them.  Too many dangers ... something could kill them ... just like that.  I can't bear to think of it.

Getting back once again to what I mean about the world ... life ... reaching out to touch you ... while you are in your own little world.

We were sitting in the living room ... our 2 Pups laying close to us.  We were watching something on tv.  I heard an unfamiliar bark and I thought it was on tv.  It didn't take but, a moment to realize that no!  it was in our back fenced-in yard.  I hurried to the door, Skip behind me ... of course, our 2 Pups ( I hate to call them dogs :).

The Pups ran out their pet door, immediately began wildly barking, growling.  I knew something was out there!  I opened the door and didn't see anything at first ... I looked at the end of the porch where our dogs were ... going crazy!

I couldn't believe my eyes ... there was a small Beagle dog barking, growling back at our Pups!  She was inside their fenced-in yard!  We began immediately putting a barrier between the dogs ... we couldn't bear for any of them to get hurt!

I went inside, got a baby gate I use on the front storm door in case a Pup ever decided to jump up on it ... I don't take chances, nor take anything for granted ... I protect our Pups.  Anyway ...

The little Beagle ran up onto the porch, got beneath the bench making it easier to protect it.  I got our 2 Pups' leashes, put them on the Pups ... brought them inside ... closed up their pet door.

We were going to calm the Beagle down ... let it go back outside the fence.  We kept wondering 'who would have dropped the dog over our fence'?  About that time ... a man walked up ... he was looking for his two little Beagle dogs ... named Laverne and Shirley.

Shirley was the Beagle on our porch.  We unlocked the gate, let the man come in to get his dog.  The man had a belt in his hand ... before I let him get the little dog ... I asked him, "are you going to whip that dog?"  He smiled, said ... "no! I'm going to use it like a leash".

He went on to tell me he always let the little dogs run in this neighborhood when he came to visit.  I asked him not to do that anymore ... because there were other big dogs that ran free here, and something bad could happen ... because something did happen this past summer.

The man was visiting his son ... had always brought his dogs to run free.  He said he wouldn't do it again.  He was concerned to where his other little dog was.  He got Shirley and went walking off calling ... Laverne!  I pray he found her, too.

If I hadn't felt good about that man ... he'd had a problem getting the little Beagle dog.  The belt bothered me, but I saw how the little dog reacted to him.  It loved him, and it got as tight to the man's chest when he picked it up.  That made me know the little Beagle wasn't afraid of him.  The man held it tightly, he was glad to find her.

See what I mean about ... how Life can reach out to touch your life and you are in your own world?  Who would have thought a dog would have been inside our fence ... a strange dog?  Thank God, we were home ... the outcome might not have been good at all.

You would think we could let our guard down at home.  To a degree, we can ... we still have to be alert around us.  How did the dog get into our fenced-in yard?

Did you know Beagle dogs can climb?  No one around here would have put a dog inside our Pups' fence ( with a Rottweiler and an Australian Shepherd).  Skip was telling me how they can climb fences.  I went online ... watched a video of a Beagle dog ... climbing a fence!  Amazing!

I didn't know dogs could climb.  Did you?

I am Still Standing Tall ...

I am Still Standing Tall ...
By Gloria Faye Brown Bates/aka Granny Gee/@GeeGranny on Twitter

Gloria Faye Brown Bates/aka Granny Gee

Fall is here once again.  It's my most favorite time of the year.  I love fall colors.  Warm orange, red, gold, green, yellow, brown leaves blowing in the nippy air!

I know, I know ... I'm a little ahead of myself.  Fall is only 'just here' ... we've only felt a little nippy air so far.  Well, it was enough to make me feel very happy!  I love Fall!

I love to dress in warm clothing to ward off the cold.  This year is going to be so much more fun.  Why?  Losing weight makes all the difference in how I will feel, dress.  Did I say I look forward to Fall?

I love the festivals, State Fair, holidays that are on the way.  Yes, I am still sad over the loss of Tommy, my son ... my only child.  I have come so far in my grief ... thank God.  It's been the hardest journey in my life to get through.

I'm glad to be ... this far ... up the road.  In the past year I have found peace inside.  How did I do it?  I don't know if I know how to tell you.

I will say that I have met my grief head-on, never backing down from it.  I have fought it like a bear, giving it all I had.  I have cried an ocean of tears ... lived in darkness not wanting to live knowing my only child had died.

I have been hell .... I have lived in hell inside myself.  I have fought Hell to be here, today.  Everything is going to be alright ... now.  It really is.  I can live now.  I can speak, think of Tommy without crying ... now.

I have written thousands of words full of my grief.  I published a 700-plus page book of my grief.  When I'm gone ... the book will be here to remember Tommy.  The golden-wire and beaded dragonflies will be 'everywhere' to remember Tommy by.  They are the dragonflies I make by hand ... leave for others to find.

I truly look forward to the holidays this year.  I'll be able to smile, be able to be happy.  I haven't been able to do that since Tommy died ... and not being able to see my grandchildren.  I've coped with so much ... now, everything is in place in my mind ... and life is good.

If I never see my grandchildren again ... I can be alright now.  I've had to cope with them as if they are gone, also.  I had no choice.  I have to live ... I want to live.  I'm going to live.

I'm like a huge redwood tree.  I've weathered many terrible storms.  I am still standing strong.

Note by this author:

Life has been very rocky my whole life.  Like the redwood tree ... I've come through many storms.  It's time for the sunshine to shine down on me with its golden, beautiful light.  I will welcome it.

Time To Let Go Of You ... And You ... And ... You

Time To Let Go Of You ... And You ... And ... You
By Gloria Faye Brown Bates/aka Granny Gee

There comes a time in a person's life when it's time to cleanse
Get the clutter out of their life, be able to see... think clearly
Clutter being material things... clutter being negative people

Time to let go of things unneeded, things that take up space
People who are negative... people who deceive us as friends
People who are unhealthy for us .... who use us when needed

Time to let go of people who pretend they are family, care
People who latch onto us, if they think we are somebody
Unlatch from us... if we are not

What better time to cleanse our life from all the riff-raff
Let go of all the things that take up space, cause us grief
What better time than... now... to let go?

Clutter, negative people are like bricks in a foundation
Bricks that are broken, no good for building
A house that sits on them... will fall down, never be secure

Let go, let go ... get the clutter out of your life
Be it material... be it living
Get it out ... get it out before it smothers, weighs you down

Get the negative people out who lie to your face, laugh behind your back
You know who they are... they know you know, yet they keep right on
It's time to get their ass out of your life, throw them out like trash

How about the one who promised to tell you how your brother is
'Forgets' to tell you anything... yet, sees the family often
How about being told not to say anything... you smile, you lie

Thinking no one knows what you've done... has waited on you
For months to see... if you were a real friend... family
Disappointed... because you were no more than anyone else

It's time for you, and others to part ways, go your way forever
Time for me to go mine forever... never crossing paths again
Because... who needs enemies when they have ... family?

Family of black widow spiders who constantly strike, bite
Bite the other in the back, lying... deceiving the whole time
It's the end of the year now... it's time to let go of all who cause grief

Begin life anew... more space in your life, your mind,  your heart
To fill with good things, thoughts... happiness
Where before... was filled with unhappiness from too much clutter

It's time to let go... let go ... I'm going to ... let go soon
I've been doing a lot of cleaning, in my home and in my mind
Time for these negative people... to go... time to let go, clean my life

...........................................................................................................

Author's Note:

I've been doing a lot of cleansing in my life... material things that have cluttered my life.  Now... in the next week or so... I hope the negative people will go on in their life... because I will be letting go of them ... one by one.

This will be my only goodbye to them... I send you best wishes to take with you ... when I let go of you on my Facebook... my life.

You are the 'broken bricks' in my foundation... I have to remove you in order... to make my foundation stronger.

We all should do this from time to time... but, many won't.  They are afraid of being alone... afraid of having no one.  I am not.  I don't miss what I never had... before.  I do this in a kind way, and wish all back to the ones I let go... that they gave, touched my life with.  They are ... very deserving.

No one should have enemies when... they have ... family.  Life is what it is... I hold no hard feelings... if you have to, so... be it.

He Charmed That Bird Right Out Of Her Tree!

He Charmed That Bird Right Out Of Her Tree!
By Gloria Faye Brown Bates/aka Granny Gee

He walked into the office, looking as he entered
Seeing the pretty ladies sitting at their desks
He grinned, and began to play
This was just a playground to him

He loved to charm, and flirt
A twinkle was in his eyes, as he smiled
That big smile he was famous for
Who could resist such a happy face?

Oh my, your hair is beautiful
You smell good, too... how do you do
She smiled big, looking at him with eyes of blue
She fluttered her lashes, held her head high

How about a date, he asked her
She said, but... I'm married, I have a husband
Well, when you don't have a husband, you have my number
Call me, he said as he walked out... smiling his big, old smile

He knew what he'd done, what he meant to do
To see if he still had it, could still charm the birds out of a tree
He was happy, he felt on top of the world
For he had just charmed that bird ... out of her tree!

P.S.  I laughed today, watching a friend of ours tell his story of charming a lady at a business he was at recently.  His eyes twinkled with laughter, his mouth opened into a big, old grin... and I thought about it all evening... knew I was going to write about it!

He charmed 'that bird' right out of her tree!  I laughed because his expression was so happy... he knew he'd done something.  That woman got up from her desk, began following him around... some of her co-workers told him he had charmed her.  I could picture it in my mind... yep, he charmed that bird... right out of her tree!

Face To Face, Movement For Movement... I Met My Stalker Once Again!

Our precious, two year old Kissy Fairchild... he's so big... our couch is really so big, too!  He almost makes it appear 'small'!!!  Kissy will protect his Mommy!

Face To Face, Movement For Movement... I Met My Stalker Once Again!
By Gloria Faye Brown Bates/aka Granny Gee

This evening I became aware of being stared at. You know what I mean, all of a sudden, you know 'you are being watched... watched closely'.

I looked around me, I turned around... yes, there he was big as day, he didn't care if I saw him. He looked me straight in the eye! I decided I would look him straight back in his eyes... I did! I wasn't going to run... no, I was going to hold my ground, and... stalk him back. Let him see how it felt... see, how close he'd come to me! I had something for him!

We stood there in a 'face-off'... stared for several minutes. I couldn't believe it... he made one stealthy move toward me... I felt my heart beat a little faster... I'm not going to be afraid, I am going to meet him head-on! No matter what happens... I'm going to hold my ground.

I put a step forward... he blinked in surprise. I know he was thinking 'something's not right here, she's supposed to run!' He tested me again, by putting another foot in my direction...

I stood there squinting my eyes at him... I looked him straight back into his deep, dark golden-brown eyes... I even saw the beauty of his eyes as I... took another step toward him! This time, I felt my heart speed up another notch... am I really doing this? Am I!!!?

He took several quick steps toward me! I took several quick steps toward him... his little short tail began to wag so fast! All of a sudden we both ran toward each other! I hugged him, he snuggled into me! I laughed, and squeezed him hard... he went between my legs pushing my long nightgown backwards, almost throwing me down onto the floor!

It was wonderful to be stalked, we do it all the time. I've learned from our precious 2 year old Rottweiler, Kissy... how to stalk... I've become quite good at it. Neither of us wants to do 'serious stalking'... he'll get happy, run to me quickly if 'it gets too intense', ha!

It's fun to be stalked, and stalk like this. Face to face, movement for movement... I met my stalker once again!

The Many Faces Of Granny Gee... A Walk On The 'Wild Side'.... Lots Of Photos!

THE MANY FACES OF GRANNY GEE... LOOK IF YOU DARE!!!
By Gloria Faye Brown Bates/aka Granny Gee   (and "yes, I did do that!")  Ha! Ha! Ha!

Well, I'm going to show you some secret faces of me, Granny Gee, Gloria Faye Brown Bates.  :)))

It's not very often I let anyone 'see the real me'.... Tommy and Skip knows the 'real me'... I can be quite comical, amusing.  It's just been such a long time when I've felt like having fun...

Skip swears that I can sit and entertain myself all day, if I want to.  He is fascinated by the things I do sometimes.  Tommy... well, Tommy and I had quite a lot in common... he was quite entertaining, also!

Skip... he can be so funny.  No one knows what he will say next... when he does say something, I can stand back and watch, hear the laughter, see expressions on everyone's face.  When both he and Tommy were together... I'd just enjoy listening.  I knew Tommy was 'gathering funny stuff from Skip' to use later when he was back on the road.  He admired Skip, loved how 'quick Skip was on his feet'.

What was so funny was... later in time, Tommy 'would forget where he learned some funny stuff from'.... and 'use it on Skip'.  Skip would stop, look at Tommy, begin laughing, and say:  "Tommy!  You're using my own material on me!"  I loved seeing Tommy's special grin as it dawned on him that... he was doing just that!  He would laugh so much... his cheeks would be alittle 'red'... and I would begin laughing.  I loved those times!

I used to sit, play on the webcam... doing silly things unexpectedly... send them to Tommy on the road... he wouldn't be expecting 'his mama' to do something so silly... and would get a big laugh.  Of course, he had to tell Skip... he and Skip were always 'telling each other things on me'!

Now... if I feel I want to be silly... Tommy's not here to appreciate it!  So... I guess I'm going to have to be 'silly' here... sometimes... now, I'm only like this ...rarely.  So, think how 'I could become a collector's item'... you won't see this very often!

Sometimes... there are 'pages in my book' that you won't ever know about... so, 'read, look along for a few minutes'... be entertained.  I like funny things, too!  I haven't been funny in a long time!

Below... are some of the 'Many Faces of Granny Gee'...... Look if you dare!  :)))

Please everyone... 'don't be hating!'  I'm sorry (no, I'm not!)... I couldn't help myself!  Life is like this sometimes... one never knows what will come up 'right out of the blue'... Do you know what?  This was fun!  Yes!  I did that!  Love, Granny Gee (see, I told you I'm not perfect... and now, you know that I like to laugh, have fun... too!)

P.S.....

Thinking about what I just did... will make the rest of my day better.... embarassing, a red face, disbelief I showed 'myself in such a light'... too bad, because...

P.P.S......

Good girls want to have fun... too!  I just did!  That ole Granny Gee has still got it!  I hope I made you laugh... because I just had some good laughs that I needed so... I needed to 'walk on the wild side for a few moments'... now... I feel good!  Silly?  Yes, but... so fun!

P.P.P.S.......Love me or hate me... I'm just Granny Gee
I just wanted to have some fun!I'm Granny Gee... I'm the one!  I'm not 'the man'... I am the 'wo- man'!

Forgive me Lord, at this moment 'I know not what I do'
I've just had a bout of insanity!
I just did this without my own permission
Can I do this, and say
The devil made me do it?!!!

Ha! Ha! Ha!
:))) :))) :)))

The more I think about it... I might just delete this whole thing!
Mmmm-mmmmmm..........

Nope... no can do!
:)))))))))))))))

Love, Granny Gee (not Gloria Faye Brown Bates... she didn't have anything to do with this!)
:)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
